Tammy Hadfield
My name is Tammy Hadfield and I have been caring for women for nearly twenty years. I began my career as an Associates Degree prepared Registered Nurse at the early age of 19 at the University of Utah Medical Center. I quickly discovered a passion in caring for mothers, babies, and their families while working in high risk obstetrics. I loved the University Hospital setting and became a charge nurse within my first year at the hospital. My desire to care for women also led me to become a rape and domestic violence victim's advocate.
Feeling a need to further my education, I completed my Bachelors Degree with Honors in 1995 at Weber State University, after which I decided to follow in my parents' footsteps and joined the United States Air Force as a commissioned officer. During my early military years I was a labor and delivery nurse, lactation specialist, neonatal resuscitation instructor, and perinatal grief counselor. After serving less than four years, I was awarded an Armed Forces scholarship to attend graduate school to complete my Masters in Nursing at University of Utah. I became a Board Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 2001. My first duty assignment as a nurse practitioner was in Anchorage, Alaska, where I was privileged to be awarded the Pacific Air Force Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year award after one year of practice. I was honored to become the troop commander of the only gynecological mobility team in the Air Force and to receive numerous awards and medals, including the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal. After 8 years of service and attaining the rank of Major, I separated from the United States Air Force at the request of my family.
In 2004, my family and I left Alaska to be near my parents in Idaho. I have grown my practice in Idaho by specializing in bio-identical hormone replacement for men and women, gynecological health, cervical dysplasia, sexual dysfunction and age management medicine. I am proud to have been the first Idaho nurse practitioner to become a board certified anti-aging diplomat by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. In September 2008, with love and support of my family, friends, colleagues and patients, I opened my own private practice, Embrace Wellness, located in Meridian.
I would be honored to serve as president elect for the Idaho Nurse Practitioner Association.
